Viewing Driving Licence Records
As you will be aware, the DVLA has abolished the counterpart of the driving licence, therefore the way in which we still need to still check your driving licence details before being able to take driving lessons with Richs Driving School has changed.
The DVLA has an online ‘View Driving Licence Record’ service to allow licence holders to share their driving licence with a third party such as a Driving Instructor/Driving School.
To share your Driving Licence record with us confidentially you will need to generate and provide us with a ‘Check Code’ along with the last 8 digits of your Driving Licence by accessing the link below which will take you to the official gov.uk web site.
This share licence code is a one-time use access code that is valid for 21 Days from generation, and will provide us with information such as your name, vehicles you can drive and any penalties and/or disqualifications.
We get to view only the information that was previously on the paper part of the driving licence and does not replace the need for you still to show your instructor all the information from the photo card part of the licence on your 1st lesson.
To access your Driving Licence records and generate a ‘Check Code’,
www.viewdrivingrecord.service.gov.uk/driving-record/licence-number
You will need to have the following ready:
* Driving Licence Number (DLN)
*National Insurance Number
*Postcode shown on your licence
Once accessed and a Check Code has been produced from the site, please pass it onto your instructor along with the last 8 digits of you DLN before the expiry time & your lesson.
The code is case sensitive.
Please Do Not try it yourself as it is a one time use code only.
